Mrs. Grube was featured in the December 1st issue of the Herald Press. Following is an excerpt of the article (reprinted with permission):

Grube strives to teach the importance of learning

Inspired by her fourth grade teacher Mrs. Thompson, Angie Grube decided to become a teacher herself to spur kids on in their learning endeavors. Grube has spent 10 years at Huntington Catholic – five years in fifth grade and five in fourth grade – striving to make learning fun and exciting for all of her students.

What do you believe is the most important aspect of your job? “The job of a teacher is to teach students, but I think sometimes people think you open a book and it tells you what to say. Teaching is so much more than that. It’s teaching them what they need to know and how to apply that in other situations. In fifth grade it’s teaching students how they can connect what they are learning to what they learned in third grade. I try to make it fun and exciting when I can – it can’t always be fun – and guiding them to see the importance of learning and how it’s not just learning for the moment.
